Homeward Bound is Indiana's 5K Walk to Provide Housing and Fight Homelessness. In April of 2010, the Homeward Bound Walk will take place in ten regions of Indiana. The Delaware/Madison Counties walk will take place, April 25, 2010 at Millcreek Civic Center in Chesterfield.
The largest growing homeless population is families. Funding to provide housing for these less fortunate is primarily provided through the nonprofit sector. Agencies serving the homeless population rely on private and corporate donations to continue their services on an on-going basis.
This years' spokesperson is Frances Willis. Frances and her son experienced homelessness on a personal level. Frances' journey to independence is a compelling story of how community services provided safety and guidance to her family.
The mission of the Homeward Bound Walk is to strengthen the fund development of statewide nonprofit programs. Homeward Bound provides unrestricted funds to statewide service providers and enhances the visibility of homeless prevention and affordable housing. Funding to provide housing for these less fortunate is primarily provided through the nonprofit sector.
