The Chicago Film Archives (CFA) invites area families become part of the visual record of Chicago's history by participating in Home Movie Day. Families are also invited to join the event as storytellers, narrating their movies for the audience.
Home movies show us things that history books overlook: The games we played in the 1930s, the way we decorated our homes in the 1950s, the events we participated in during the 1970s, the way we dressed in the 1980s.

The Chicago Film Archives was established in 2003 to preserve the Midwest ’s moving picture heritage. In addition to collecting and conserving films by commercial, experimental and documentary filmmakers, CFA is particularly interested in home movies and amateur works that provide a valuable historical record of everyday life.
