The Bothwell Arts Center's Downtown Art Studios invites guests to enjoy some cider & Holiday treats with the resident studio artists and visitors on Thursday, December 8th, from 5:30-8:00pm. Holiday Carolers from Sally Mote Yaffe's Studio will provide seasonal cheer.

Featured this month is the work of Nova Starling. Nova, a local award-winning artist who has been with the studios since their opening in 2010. Starling's works are in collections across the country. More info about Nova and her work can be seen at www.novastarling.com.

Nova will be joined by other artists from the studios as well, whose work varies from animal-shaped textile work in colorful fabric, to collage, multimedia and wildly colorful abstracted landscapes, as well as figurative abstraction - some with a psychedelic flair, graffiti-inspired works, animal portraiture, and works by some artists new to the scene, bringing freshness of voice to the mix. Downtown Studio artists include Arthur Barinque, Joanna Crawshaw, Emilee Dunlop, Margo Gonzalez, Julie Hayward, Kathy Hill, Leigh Masi, Linda Ryan, Nova Starling and Lela Witherspoon. Arts & Crafts will be offered as well.

In November of 2010, the Bothwell Art Center's Downtown Art Studios first opened its doors to the public, after renovating an abandoned liquor store and turning it into working space for artists. This is a project of the Bothwell Arts Center on 8th Street, which is in itself a project of the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center, a not-for-profit corporation.

The Bothwell Arts Center is dedicated to providing inexpensive working spaces for artists, teachers, students and performers to create, learn, teach, and express themselves. The Downtown Art Studios are an extension of that mission. Spaces rent for $75 - $240 per month.
