Close to 900 homebound seniors and handicapped adults rely on Meals on Wheels not only for nutritional meals and in-home services, but also holiday remembrances. Many live alone, without family and without promise of a single holiday gift. If they do have a wish list, it usually includes humble, basic requests: batteries, socks, blankets, toiletries and daily necessities. Meals on Wheels, partnering with McKesson Medical-Surgical—the Richmond-based leading national distributor of medical supplies and equipment—strives to brighten the holidays for these less fortunate neighbors through the Holiday Angels gift drive. By Dec. 5, the organizations hope to collect 5,500 gift items. CVS also will support the gift drive with donation of CVS private-label products.
