Palo Alto, California 94301

The Garden Club of Palo Alto presents its biennial boutique on Saturday, December 6 at Avenidas, 450 Bryant Street, in downtown Palo Alto from 10 am until 3 pm. This year's event is "Holiday Affaire with Zest", inspired by the blue skies and fruit-laden citrus trees of our California holiday season.

Thanks to the energy and talents of its members, the Garden Club is known for this day-long sale of handmade products - specialty jams, barbeque sauces, tea cakes and candies along with a wide assortment of seasonal decorations, wreathes, centerpieces, tabletop trees, pots of paperwhites, succulents and many other garden- and plant-related holiday items.

In addition to these perennial favorites, expect to find an Orangerie of citrus-inspired products such as delicious and unusual homemade marmalades, trail mix, chutneys and Meyer lemon cakes, della Robbia wreathes and garlands, lemon-studded arrangements and uncommon varieties of citrus plants in decorative, front-door containers.

In Stitches presents a colorful collection of hand-knitted Christmas stockings, knit handbags and new, tiny hand-sewn mice dolls. An Ephemera section includes vintage design paper ornaments, pressed flower stationery, and garden photo note cards.

Special Gifts yields antique-linen lavender sachets, sea shell creations, watercolor paintings, and photographic botanical art. Always popular are the unique handmade garden trugs, birchwood candleholders, boxwood kissing balls, pinecone bird feeders and the Club's signature "Polly's Ginger Boy Garlands".

This popular fundraiser allows the Garden Club of Palo Alto to support horticultural projects in Palo Alto and neighboring communities, such as recent grants to Heritage and Bol Parks, the Foothill College Beautification Project, Save the Bay wetlands restoration, Canopy, Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden, Avenidas' Rose Kleiner Center senior gardening project and the Abilities United children's horticultural therapy program.
