deGENERATION is an evening presenting three works of the Place Prize nominated choreographer Hofesh Shechter.

Opening with Cult a powerful experience that reveals a dark, ironic view of the powers that steer our society and ourselves. Values tumble over each other, leaving the six dancers with the naked truth of their existence – struggling for a purpose they do not understand.

The duet Fragments presents an insight into a couple’s life inside the ‘noise’ of culture, a delicate piece that unfolds its intense moments and an amusing refreshing ending.

Culminating with Uprising, where seven men are washing the stage with a wild drive of hope in the shadow of despair. A highly engaging and complex piece with a powerful
soundtrack that leaves audiences on the edge of their seats.

Received the ‘Audiences Vote Special Prize’ at the Place Prize final in 2004.
