111 Minna Street
San Francisco, California 94105

The United Capoeira Association is throwing down a fundraiser shindig at 111 Minna! With a live Afro-Brazilian drumming, pirate burlesque, Djs, and a band that will have you reminiscing of Swatch watches and jelly bracelets, as well as some dope professors on the 1's and 2's, spinning hip hop, funk, and house, this is a not-to be missed party! You also might just see some capoeira out on the dance floor. . .

Featuring Lucky Jesus, Batuca, the Burley Sisters, and beats by DJ's Groove Catalyst and Croots.

Proceeds from the night go to Projeto Kirimure (www.projetokirimure.org), a non-profit program funded by the Capoeira Arts Foundation and designed to enrich the lives of at-risk youth in the neighborhood of Itapoï¿£, Bahia, Brazil. Many children from Itapoï¿£ suffer from malnutrition, lack of appropriate adult attention, and other conditions of severe poverty. Instead of attending school, they often work to help support their families, and frequently are falling prey to the ever-present menace of drugs and lives of crime, including involvement and prostitution and gangs. Just think of it this way: by party for their rights to fight back, growing mentally, physically and emotionally strong enough to combat the odds!
