Recital wants to change the way we view hip-hop. To this end it links the energy of hip-hop with the sounds of the violin and a talk box. Hip-hop is both music and dance. The Kafig company maintains it’s aim of ? turning the rules on their heads ? as Mourad Merzouki said.

Mourad Merzouki, choreographer
Born in 1971 in Lyon, Mourad Merzouki started his career by learning martial arts and circus skills. At 15 years of age he discovered hip-hop which then lead him into the world of dance. Kafig was the concretisation of his project.
Kafig has continued to renew and adapt hip-hop to different types of choreography, stage settings and style. Kafig company is today one of the most important on the French hip-hop scene, and its choreographer Mourad Merzouki was given the award of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the minister of Culture and Communication.

The Beijing Modern Dance Company
Set up in 1995, the Beijing Modern Dance company is a cultural not for profit organisation that has developed a contemporary repertoire from the traditional chinese culture. Today the company has a solid international reputation, certain comments in the press suggest that it could even be the best contemporary dance company.
