Hillstomp with Dan Jones & the Squids

Portland Oregon punk blues duo HILLSTOMP gives new life to buckets, cans, and American music. On their second album,"The Woman that Ended the World," North Mississippi trance blues, a bit of Appalachia and a dash of punkabilly are duct-taped into a rockin do-it-yourself hill country blues stomp, clanging and tumbling from assorted vintage mics, buckets, cans and BBQ lids, drenched in rambunctious slide guitar.

Despite their homemade instruments and novel approach, Hillstomp is no novelty act. With distinctive songwriting and memorable performances, they recycle traditional elements into something fresh and exciting. Henry Christain and John Johnson of Hillstomp are rapidly becoming the new leaders of a bandwagon stretching over 150 years long, winding the backwoods of the American South.
