The Hill’s “Second Chance for Love” Tour will be in San Francisco to encourage local residents to help save the lives of one million Dogs and Cats by the end of the year. San Francisco residents can support this national pledge and give a local cat or dog a second chance for love by visiting a shelter in their area. As part of the tour, Hill’s will cover the adoption fee for the first 25 adoptions between 11am and 2pm and provide these owners with a new pet starter kit during a special event at The San Francisco SPCA.
New and current pet owners will have the opportunity to share their own adoption success stories and learn more about proper pet nutrition. Pet owners can also visit www.HillsPet.com/2ndChance to submit their pet adoption stories and photos as part of the Second Chance Contest. Two grand prize winners will receive a 5 year supply of Hill’s® Science Diet® pet food and will be featured in the 2008 advertising campaign. Each participant also will be able to nominate their favorite Hill’s partner shelter to win a grand prize of $10,000 for the organization. Contest entries will be accepted through September 30th and the winning Cat and Dog will be announced in November.
According to the Humane Society of United States (HSUS), each year 6-8 million cats and dogs enter animal shelters in the United States. This year, Hill’s has kicked off an aggressive goal to support the adoption of 1 million pets by raising awareness of the joys of pet adoption and the needs of local shelters.
