Every year, world famous music artists play great concerts in Dundalk Heritage Park, at the Dundalk Heritage Fair, during the Fourth of July Independence Day Celebration weekend. There's also lots of enjoyable music played by other music artists, there are plenty of fun and interesting activities for children and adults to get into, the fair's crafts area is well stocked and very nicely presented, there are local history booths - including school alumni associations, and the food is tummy terrific.

The Turtles featuring Flo and Eddie are coming to the Dundalk Heritage Fair with a band of great musicians who have professional histories of performing and recording with all kinds of other famous Rock and Roll stars: including Todd Rundgren, Hot Tuna, Alan Parsons, Meat Loaf, Edgar Winter, The Cars, Lou Christie, and Paul McCartney; and they have been on many TV shows, worked on Broadway and on films, have been in videos and featured in music industry magazines, and on and on; and Flo and Eddie have great music histories too, which includes working with Baltimore born Frank Zappa on four Mothers of Invention albums and a movie. There is no telling which fantastic Rock 'n' Roll tunes they will play, because they sure are some hard core, long time Rock and Rollers. I'm mighty happy about it, 'cause I'm a hard core, long time Rock and Roll fan. I used to often enjoy seeing the Turtles on TV shows and listening to them on the radio and on record players, back in my teenage days of the late 1960s. And I've heard lots of what Flo and Eddie and the guys in the band have done in their other hard-rockin' endeavors. The Turtles concert will be played on Stage #1, Sunday, July 4th, at 8pm. You can find links to the Turtles' music bios here: http://www.theturtles.com/documents/turtles_now.html

The musicians and singers coming to Dundalk as members of Bowzer's Rock and Roll Party will also all have great, personal music histories to draw from, as they perform at the Heritage Fair. I'll probably know the words to some of the old time Rock 'n' Roll, Doo Wop tunes they play. Bowzer kicks out the Rock 'n' Roll on Stage #1, Saturday, July 3rd, at 8pm. Here's his web site: http://www.bowzerparty.com/

I'm an old, original Beatles fan, so I'm pleased that the Mahoney Brothers are going to perform their Long Live The Beatles show at the 2010 Heritage Fair. Someone once told me that Ringo Starr was asked - on the Howard Stern Show - how he felt about Beatles tribute bands, and Ringo replied, "I don't mind as long as they're good, like The Mahoney Brothers." The Mahoney Brothers will perform on Stage #1, Friday, July 2nd, at 7:30pm. Check out their web site: http://www.mahoneybros.com/

Ronnie Dove, who will be performing on Stage #2 on Friday at 7:30pm, is a Maryland favorite and also has an impressive music history - once selling records that reached into the Top 20s of record charts. Here's his web site: http://www.ronniedove.com/

And here is something that tells you what the volunteers who make the fair happen every year are like. They are some mighty fine folks.

Deborah Rudacille, author of Roots of Steel Boom and Bust in an American Mill Town, will be having a book reading/signing at the Dundalk Heritage Fair, in the Heritage Park gazebo. Times are July 3rd, 1:30 - 3:30, 5:30 - 7:30, July 4th, 5:30 - 7:30. And I'm excited about it, 'cause I'll be stopping by. http://deborahrudacille.com/books/roots-of-steel

When the annual Dundalk Heritage Independence 6K run is going by my house - each 4th of July Parade morning shortly before the parade begins - I usually wake up just in time to see the last of the runners passing on by to the finish line. This year, the Dundalk Heritage Independence 6K run will be held on Saturday morning, July 3rd, at 7am, and the parade begins at 8:15am. Full info on the run is available at Charm City Run - http://www.charmcityrun.com/page.cfm?pageid=33&eid=945

Here is where you can find a set of photos from last year's Dundalk Heritage Fair, a set of July 4th parade shots and also lots of photos that show how nice the neighborhood is around Dundalk Heritage Park - where the fair is held. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ursusdave/sets/
