Henry James Program

THE NEXT TIME
Henry James wanted to be known as a playwright as much as he wanted to be known as a novelist, but his plays were, at best, booed off the stage. Author and Northwestern University Professor Brian Bouldrey will discuss the irony revealed after Jamess death: the number of successful plays, interpretations and operas staged from his tale The Turn of the Screw, a horror story about children.
Free program at the Main Library on Thursday, January 31, at 7 pm. Please register at Readers Services, 847-448-8620.
This program is offered as part of From Page to Stage a joint venture of the Glencoe's Writers Theatre and ten North Shore libraries. Read the book. See the play. Get involved!
