Hell on Reels [Astoria Moving Picture Festival], named in reference to the infamous Hell Gate Bridge spanning NYC's East River, is a forum for the exhibition of exceptional and unique short format moving image works, including documentary, narrative, music video, animation, design and experimental films.

The intention of the festival is to provide a forum for the presentation of a diverse range of moving image works and promote creative dialogue and collaboration among participants within the local Queens community, greater NYC metropolitan area and global film society. The first and second installments of the festival on May 21 and June 25, 2006 were great successes and featured a diverse selection of short films from around the globe, from Jackson Heights, Queens to Malmo, Sweden.

Hell on Reels [Astoria Moving Picture Festival] is now gearing up for the third installment of the summer series to take place on July 30th, 2006. The screening is outdoors to take full advantage of the NYC summer right before it fades away!

Don't forget to mark your calendar for the fourth and final installment of the Hell on Reels Summer Series 2006 on September 10th, 2006!!!

There is NO FEE to submit and more than one submission is permitted. All works must be no more than 15 minutes and all submissions must include a completed entry form. Submissions will not be returned.
