Old First Church's dramatic sanctuary will become an immersive video environment on Friday night, April 8th when the SF-based composers collective Hear Here produces its first concert of 2011. A collaboration with video-artists Cyrus Tabar and Shemoel Recalde; Mark Altenberg; Brendan Aanes, and lighting designer Missy Weaver, six new musical works will be performed, each with an accompanying video work created for this event. This is also the inaugural concert for conductor Ross Ipsen and his newly-formed West Coast Contemporary Music Ensemble, featuring extraordinary young players from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The program: Palm Boulevard for mandolin, marimba and piano, and Ballet for electric guitar and percussion (Alexis Alrich); Gridlock for 10-piece ensemble (Dan Becker) ; Red States, Blue States for chamber orchestra (Clark Suprynowicz); American Standard for clarinet and piano (Michael Kaulkin); Over and Out for 10-piece ensemble (Belinda Reynolds). The concert is $17, $14 seniors & students. Children under 12 are free.
