On the evening of Monday, Dec. 1, Milliman invites you to a town hall meeting focused on healthcare reform, specifically on electronic health records (EHRs) and how they might affect the next era in healthcare.

Why EHRs? The biggest changes on the healthcare horizon are woven into the discussion about EHRs. EHRs are likely to be at the nexus of quality, accountability, and consistent decision making. Proponents say EHRs allow healthcare providers to use evidence-based medicine at the point of care. EHRs also can involve patients, not only in the management of their own personal health records, but also in their healthcare in general. They are promoted as the sort of active engagement between providers and patients that should be at the heart of meaningful healthcare reform. Questions persist, though, about cost, privacy, and how this new pool of information will be used.

Our panel will include representatives from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Group Health, Microsoft, Milliman, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. We'll also be joined by King County Executive Ron Sims and Washington State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler.

We hope you will join us for this important discussion. The event is free and open to the public. For more information about this event, contact us at [email protected].
