Walk on June 20 to Raise Funds for Care for Real!

Join friends and neighbors on Saturday, June 20 for the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s (GCFD) 24th Annual Hunger Walk. Money we raise at the Walk will help fund the critical work of Care for Real, Edgewater’s food and clothing pantry, by providing credits to purchase food at the GCFD. This is a great chance to meet people in your community who care--for real!

The 2.5 mile walk will step off from Montrose Harbor at 9:30 a.m. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Participants will receive goody bags from GCFD, a gift from Care for Real when they register with us and, most important, the gratitude of people who need the food we provide.

Your participation, and the donations you collect, are vital to Care for Real. Our worsening economy is causing more and more Edgewater neighbors to turn to the pantry to make ends meet. Last month, CFR helped feed more than 2,000 people, 60% of them seniors or families with young children. This is almost double the number served last year. And, unfortunately, our numbers keep growing. By providing emergency food, we may help people avoid homelessness and ensure a stable and healthy community.

Come walk with Care for Real. Your participation will make a real difference in the lives of Care for Real’s current clients and those who will come in the future.
