Haunted Henricus: Things That Go Bump in the Night October 22, 2010

Henricus Historical Park, site of the second permanent English settlement in the “New World,” will present “Haunted Henricus: Things That Go Bump in the Night” on October 22 and 23. Visitors to the park will experience an evening of spellbinding accounts and legendary tales as period-dress interpreters revive old English and American Indian folklore and legends. Join colonists and Virginia Indians by the fireside of 1611-1622 Virginia as they recount eerie and strange tales of their homeland.
Activities planned for “Haunted Henricus” will capture the essence of what it felt like to be a colonist in a dark, mysterious and wooded landscape, exposed to uncertain perils. Visitors will understand the connection of the harvest season to many European superstitions and listen to tales of “Things That Go Bump in the Night.” Prior to the guided site tours, visitors may enjoy a presentation of “Dark of the Moon” by the Thomas Dale High School Drama Department.
The fee for the play is $3 per person with all proceeds benefitting the school. Performances will run from 5:00-6:45 p.m. Admission to “Haunted Henricus” is $8 for adults and $6 for children aged 5-12 with tours lasting approximately one hour between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Registration for “Haunted Henricus” is required by October 20 by calling (804) 748-1613.
