802 E Hastings
Vancouver, British Columbia V6A 1R6

Newly renovated on the Rice Block of 802 E.Hastings in Strathcona; Hasty Hawk gallery opens its doors for the first of a series of events.

The first show, a group show, including the works of artists from all over Canada, attempts to examine the potential of psychiatric evaluation of an individual through the catharsis of their art work. An open thematic call includes work produced specifically under these guidelines as well as random works not associated to the theme. Attendants to the show are welcomed to openly express their thoughts on the work presented in the gallery's log book- which for this event will serve as a psychiatric journal.

Psychoanalysis is a family of psychological theories and methods based on the work of Sigmund Freud. As a technique of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis seeks to discover connections among the unconscious components of, in this case, an artist's mental processes. Traditionally the analyst's goal is to help liberate the artist from unexamined or unconscious barriers of transference and resistance, that is, past patterns of relating that are no longer serviceable or that inhibit freedom- in inquiry to feed back specifically on the work itself, Hasty Hawk invites you to develop and express an opinion of the work hosted at this event.

Event runs from 8pm to 2am. Refreshments (non-acoholic) will be served. No cover / all-ages.
