The Santa Cruz Baroque Festival presents:

Hasten to the Sea

Featuring Tim Rayborn (voice, medieval strings, percussion) and Rita Lilly (voice, symphonie)
April 13, 7:30pm at the UCSC Music Center Recital Hall

An intriguing musician, Tim Rayborn travels between the musical worlds of medieval Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and the Balkans. He plays not two or three, but dozens of musical instruments including lutes, plucked strings, flutes, and percussion. Reviews describe Rayborn as both an extraordinary instrumental virtuoso and as an amazing singer, or in the words of Magnatune: "a world-class talent in the field of ancient music."

Rayborn last performed at the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival in 2008, in a concert with harpist Patrick Ball titled 'The Flame of Love: The Legend of Tristan and Iseult'. He now returns to Santa Cruz in an exciting collaboration with renowned early music vocalist Rita Lilly. In 'Hasten to the Sea' the duo will offer medieval instrumentals, secular cantigas, songs of troubadors and trobairitz, from 12th to 13th-century Portugal, Spain, and France. The price of admission certainly beats current airfares. . . .

This concert takes place on April 13, 2013 from 7:30pm at the UCSC Music Center Recital Hall (Santa Cruz). Tickets can be purchased through the UCSC Ticket Office (www.santacruztickets.com, 831-459-2159) and the Civic Center Box Office. Admission prices are $23 general, $17 senior, $6 student, and $3 youth. For more information please visit www.scbaroque.org
