66 West 12th St (between 5th & 6th Avenues)
New York City, New York

World Hunger Year (WHY) and the New School University's Media Studies Department will hold The Harry Chapin Awards Ceremony 2004 in the John L. Tishman auditorium (66 West 12th Street, New York, NY) on Friday, October 15, starting at 6pm. The ceremony will honor the recipients of the 2003 Harry Chapin Media Awards and the Harry Chapin Self-Reliance Awards.

The ceremony celebrates the work of outstanding community organizations and journalists. Though they work in different fields, these journalists and direct service providers share a common desire: to eradicate hunger and poverty in the world. The combined forces of media and community-based organizations can create a new landscape for change that inspires people to understand the depth of societal problems while creating an impetus for each of us to invest in building stronger communities.

WHY Board Chair Jen Chapin will host the event. A reception offering delicious hors d'oeuvres and beverages will end the evening. The event is free but registration is encouraged. To register for this event, please click here.
