Do you have any recommendations for getting there? I'd be coming from the East Bay. Should I take BART to Muni?

dfb - Yep, take BART to the Muni N-Judah line, and then pick up the free park shuttle to Speedway Meadow. The FAQ on the event website links to a useful PDF with public transit info.
