Congratulations! Now that you are engaged let the planning begin! Allow the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) to guide you through a series of workshops that can be taken individually or as a package. Engaged couples can learn how to select and design fresh flowers, choreograph their first dance, gain tips on how to save money and how to create a unique experience on their wedding day. The BCAE will cover all the basic techniques that you will need to prepare for that special day!

Prepare for your wedding by choreographing a dance that will look great on your video and dazzle your guests. Learn the steps to the most popular wedding dances while creating a memorable first dance. The tuition is per couple. Please bring a CD with your favorite wedding song. One registration is required per couple.

Learn professional techniques as well as quick and easy methods to decorate your wedding cake! Discover techniques and develop your skills for royal icing, chocolate royal, delicious butter creams. The class will cover cake preparation, simple decorating techniques (lines & dots, piping leaves & flowers), writing and moving on to trims, swags and royal icing add-on methods.

Every couple hopes their wedding day will be perfect, but problems inevitably arise. Perhaps the photographer arrives late or the caterer is difficult. Enter the wedding consultant! Serving as a liaison between the happy couple and all others, a wedding consultant ensures that the wedding day happens as planned. Resource materials are provided, as well as information for starting your own wedding consulting business.

Planning for your wedding? Your choice of flowers will enhance the uniqueness of the day. This workshop covers seasonal considerations, themes, colors, and styles. Create hand-tied bouquets using fresh flowers, ribbon, and embellishments to construct a unique bridal bouquet. Step by step instructions will assist you in taking home a beautiful bouquet. Pictures, instructions and secrets from a professional will be shared.

Learn how to create beautiful wearable flowers for your wedding day using fresh flowers, greens and embellishments. Each student will take home their designs including: Boutonnières, Wristlets and Corsages.

Wedding Ceremony Flowers/Centerpieces: 6/19/10 [Tuition: $38.00/Member Cost:$33.00/Materials Cost: $20.00] (Laurie Marino)
Develop ideas and learn techniques for different styles for the church, pew bows, and ceremony flowers. Students will construct a traditional table centerpiece that will fit on a long table, learn how to buy ribbon and styles for containers for the perfect centerpiece.

Instructors:

Gail Gardner has been a dancer and teacher of ballroom, swing, and Latin dance since 1991. She has taught and performed throughout the Boston area.

Suzi Parks began her pastry apprenticeship with her Grandmother, in her native New Mexico. She later moved to Boston for further study in sugar confections and chocolate artistry. She has studied at the International Pastry Arts Center in New York with Chef Albert Kumin, the White House Pastry Chef for President Carter.

Beverly Ann Bonner is president of “The Wedding Beautiful, Inc.,” and a full-service bridal consulting company. She has planned weddings for more than twenty years and has become a frequent expert source for local and national media, including Elegant Weddings, The Boston Globe and Modern Bride.

Laurie Jeanne Marino is a floral artist, educator and owner of “Make it and Take it Floral Design.” She holds a master's degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Laurie lives part-time in Massachusetts and part-time in St. Petersburg, Florida where she teaches floral design classes. Laurie will be available to provide complimentary phone support for questions after class.
