University of Southampton, University Road
Southampton, England

Meetings at Southampton University are held in Seminar Room 1. We sometimes have access to the adjacent SeminarRoom2, if it is available.

Getting There

Seminar Room 1 is in the ECS building (Building 59) at Southampton University's Highfield (main) campus.
Building 59 is on the north edge of the [Highfield campus] and is marked as the Zepler building.
You enter the building via the B59-B53 atrium.
All non-ECS staff will need to check-in with security when you arrive and leave.
[Buses] to use are the U1 from Southampton Parkway station or Southampton Central station, or the U2 from outside the Civic Centre (a short walk from Southampton Central station).
Car parking is available for free at the weekends in the adjacent car parks.
The postcode for those who use them for navigation is: SO17 1BJ

Getting In

Security guards usually occupy a reception desk located in the atrium which
joins buildings 53 and 59<-where-we-are, during the weekends. ECS staff and
students are exempt.

From January 2009 unless your name (HLUG members and non-members) is on a list with the security guard on the front door you may not be allowed in. Without your name in advance security will check your details.

So to avoid a delayed entry or disappointment it is highly recommended you provide your:

1) Full name
2) MAC address(s) for WLAN

As ever we'd like to hear any talks you think you'd like to give.

Times and getting in instruction will be posted to the list closer to the
event and on the wiki.

For the November meeting I'd like to pilot a "I have a problem" talk, where
people send by emails their Linux problems and we talk about them in a talk
session, with the hope of getting better visibility to problems people have
and more efficient resolution of them.

We have one volunteered talk (OpenPilot) and I will be repeating my book
reviewing talk with more books to give away.

There will be the AGM, so pleas turn up if you can so we have plenty of warm
bodies to vote.

If you can help on the welcome desk please sign up on the wiki (page will be
updated soon).
