The Richmond Craft Mafia presents Handmade Throwdown: Art vs Craft, a gallery exhibit and sale to benefit the Richmond SPCA.

The exhibit opens Friday, July 16, 2010 at 6pm at the Trolley Stop Gallery at Crossroads Art Center and will remain on display until September 8, 2010. Handmade Throwdown will feature the works of past and present Richmond Craft Mafia members, and is presented in conjunction with Slash Coleman’s The Art of Business Throwdown.

Handmade Throwdown: Art vs Craft is part of a marketing competition modeled after Donald Trump’s television show “The Apprentice.” Guest artist Noah Scalin will judge each team on the philanthropic reach of their work, overall sales, media exposure and the growth of each team’s platform. The winning team will be announced in November.

About the Richmond Craft Mafia: Inspired by our Austin namesake, the Richmond Craft Mafia is a supportive networking group of like-minded artists and crafters. Join us in "rubbin' out the mass produced." Current Richmond Craft Mafia Members include: Bee's Knees Studio, Crystal J Silk, Jackson Sage, Keen Designs, Modern Atelier, MonkeyDog Studio, Nicole Lee Designs, Oelle M., Phil Barbato, Tasha McKelvey and Twist Style.

This event is free and open to the public. A portion of all profits will go to benefit the Richmond SPCA.
