HANDMADE MEDIA CLASS – April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 - 6:30 to 8:30

Tutor: Gabriela Delworth
What will you learn in the workshop?
Like so many of us you have always loved making things to give as gifts to friends and family. But have you ever thought about making things for sale as well? T-Shirts and Aprons are among the most popular items. Make them!

This fun workshop has been designed for all of you who might be looking into getting more serious about your crafts. You will also learn how to present and promote your goods.

IT WILL BE A FUN TIME OF LEARNING AND SHARING
Attendees are requested to bring all materials and tools to be used at the class. You will find a suggested materials list at the end of this print. Get together with other minds alike, share and swap them with others if desired. Sometimes we have too much of the same things such as papers, embellishments, ribbons, paper, jewelry parts, fabric scraps. Let’s get creative with a “green” perspective and re-use what we already have. By connecting with people and trying something new, you'll tap into your natural creativity. Discover what you can do!

DECORATED T-SHIRTS

DECORATED T-SHIRTS Part 1
Thursdays – April 2
We will kick off the first class working on super hot T-Shirts. The instructor will talk about how to paint on fabric and will discuss the materials we will use in the process including tools. Participants will present their favorite embellishments.
We will then choose and discuss the best designs to embellish out T-Shirts and will transfer them onto the fabric.
The instructor will give a layout demonstration and participants will learn about balance, design and colour combinations. And will gather all elements for their designs. They will have an opportunity to experiment with their own layouts and discuss styles with the group.
The instructor will talk about trends for the season and participants will then start decorating their T-Shirts using fabric paint.
This first class will be all about layout and painting.

DECORATED T-SHIRTS Part 2
Thursdays – April 9
Last class we started decorating our T-Shirts with fabric paint. T-Shirts are now dried and participants will “bring them to life” using their favorite embellishments such as flowers, beads, ribbons, threads, sequins and more.
Welcome to mixed-media! You started painting on fabric and now you will experiment with basic collage, ribbon art and embroidery! Participants will review their chosen designs and will start the embellishing process.
The instructor will give a demonstration on a sample T-Shirt.
This is what you will learn: how to make ribbon flowers, basic embroidery stitching and collage.
Participants are encouraged to finish their T-Shirts at home.
