For its final concert of the 2011-2012 season, Pacific Chamber Symphony presents a pair of works by two musical giants - George Frideric Handel and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Written in 1788, the 41st symphony is Mozart's last work in the symphonic form. It is regarded as the crowning achievement of his symphonic career. The final fugal coda still inspires awe two hundred years after it was written.

"Water Music" is so-called because it was first played on a barge accompanying King George on an excursion on the Thames. The work consists of 3 suites, including a total of 21 pieces. Maestro Lawrence Kohl has selected his favorites for this performance, including the "Alla Hornpipe", familiar from television commercials, and the "Allegro in D", which was used in the film Dead Poets Society.
