Hammond Eggs was a band that existed in Charlottesville, Virginia, from 1975 to 1978, and proved to be the training ground for several more notorious Charlottesville bands, including The Allstars, Skip Castro Band, and The Stoned Wheat Things. Fronted by the incendiary Judy Coughlin, the Eggs delivered a fiery live show of funk, classic R&B, rock'n'roll, reggae, and calypso, and were arguably the first full-time band to play Caribbean music in the mid-Atlantic area. It's 2012 now. The band is long gone, but their musical reverberations are still being felt around Charlottesville over 30 years later. Here's your chance to see a Charlottesville original back in action for one night.
