Description
The Chelsea’s seaside location and wide selection of large and small gathering spaces, each distinguished by its own unique style, set the stage for the perfect event—from a picturesque wedding reception to a business function to anything in between. The Chelsea’s event coordinators pride themselves on exceeding each guest’s expectations, tending to every detail so that even the hosts can savor the festivities.

The Chelsea’s premier event venue is The Crystal Room, a 4,400-square-foot indoor banquet space (that can be divided into smaller spaces) with an accompanying outdoor terrace overlooking Sea Spa’s saltwater pool. The Crystal Room takes its name from the Howard Johnson’s ballroom that once occupied the same space and where USO volunteers entertained American troops. The Crystal Room’s namesake feature—the chandeliers—are bejeweled with refurbished crystals from the ones that once hovered over revelers here, while the Terrazzo floors were made by regrinding original flooring materials. The Crystal Room is distinguished by a smart, sleek design that combines those features and classic fabrics with modern furniture and fixtures for a truly timeless setting. A variety of available tabletop and lighting motifs allows The Crystal Room to be adapted for any personal or professional function. The room seats up to 270 people, and exclusive catering is provided by Stephen Starr, the renowned restaurateur who created the hotel’s two signature restaurants, Chelsea Prime and Teplitzky’s.

In addition to The Crystal Room, each of the 5th Floor’s destination spaces, including the upscale 15,000-square-foot outdoor pool and cabana area, may be reserved for events, inviting guests to let their imaginations run wild. The Terrace Lounge, the Living Room, the Bar, and the Game Room can all be engaged as private spaces, creatively incorporating the distinct attributes of each, such as converting the Game Room’s vintage pool table into a dramatic, one-of-a-kind dining table.

Regardless of the size or scope of any event, the Chelsea’s devotion to providing world-class service means that the utmost attention is paid to every detail—from setting to decoration to food, not to mention the countless intangibles that make or break any occasion.
