Haggen to Haggen 5K Fun Run & Walk May 4, 2013

Haggen will donate proceeds from this event to its race partner, the Greater Bellingham Running Club (GBRC), to fund four annual $1,000 scholarships for Whatcom County high school runners who are college-bound. The money raised will also provide a better quality running experience for low-income high school students through running shoe vouchers, track workouts and equipment updates.
The Haggen to Haggen five-kilometer course, which is now USA Track & Field-certified, begins at 8 AM at the Sehome Village Haggen store and ends at the Meridian Haggen store. The relatively fast course winds through several neighborhoods, including downtown Bellingham. The first two miles cover level and descending terrain, including an exciting run through downtown Bellingham on Holly Street. But runners and walkers need to save a little energy for the final mile since there is a slight uphill grade to test their endurance. Haggen gift cards will be awarded to the first three male and female run finishers.
