Gypsy Tango Klezmer Punk From NYC

For Immediate Release: The Luminescent Orchestrii
releases new CD ?Too Hot To Sleep?. CD Release Party set for 8pm September 24 at MAKOR, 35 W 67 St., as part of The New York Jewish Music & Heritage Festival.

Featuring special guests: Outernational, The Hungry
March Band and DJ Busquelo.

Fresh off their European summer tour with a 4- and
5-star reviews at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the
Luminescent Orchestrii return to New York City to
celebrate the release of their new CD, ?Too Hot To
Sleep.? The band?s sound is an explosive mash of
Romanian gypsy melodies, punk frenzy, salty tangos,
hard rocking klezmer, haunting Balkan harmony, hip-hop beats and Appalachian fiddle, all eaten and spit out by three violins, resophonic guitar, bullhorn
harmonica and Mariachi bass.

"The balancing of frenzy and finesse is evidently a
trademark Luminescent Orchestrii approach, displayed
to its utmost in the insanely frenetic dance tunes...
The three violins flirt wilfully with a cacophony
teasingly offset by elegant classical flourishes,
swirling and eddying above the rhythm section's
bruisingly aggressive but sharply-aimed attack." - The
Scotsman

Sxip Shirey of the Luminescent Orchestri is the
creator and host of the ?King Gypsy Rocker Massive?
parties that galvanized the gypsy and Balkan music
scene in New York City. These events and the band
itself have been highlighted in The New York Times,
The London Times and on BBC Radio this year. The
upcoming CD release party marks the inaugural event of his new monthly international music rave-up party,
?Push!Push? that is set to pick up where ?King Gypsy?
left off with a wider international line-up.

Opening the show will be two of our very favorite New
York City Bands...

Hungry March Band is a 25-piece brass march band
rolling out the sounds of New Orleans, gypsy/roma,
India, jazz, latin, klezmer, punk and hip hop. Village
Voice calls them "the best anarchist parade group!".

Outernational crafts a new sound from musical styles
throughout the world. Expect controlled chaos and
intense energy. Tom Morello of Audioslave and Rage
Against The Machine says, "Outernational's music is as
righteous as their politics. They have a rare
combination of talent, purpose and a great sweat
drenched live show, uplifting and raw."

and DJ Busquelo will be spinning the after-party!!!!
