The Canadian sextet Three Inches of Blood evokes a throwback to heavy metal's youthful 1980s heyday. The band's Iron Maiden-like galloping riffs and solos are speeded up to thrash metal tempos, topped with "Dungeons & Dragons" styled lyrics and titles such as 'Destroy the Orcs' and 'Ride Darkhorse, Ride.' Their latest is 'Advance and Vanquish.' Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, Horse the Band has been many people's favorite little secret since its inception in 2000. The godfathers of the sound already coined as "Nintendo-core," they've built a sizable worldwide fan base. Deconstructing hardcore and metal trademarks and soaking them with a sharp tongue and inventive keyboard leads, Horse the Band has risen to the forefront of eclectic and extreme hard rock music.
