Rising star Swedish guitarist and composer Johannes Moller makes his San Francisco debut Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 8 pm at the War Memorial Green Room on the Omni Guitar Series. In 2010, Moller was awarded first prize in the Guitar Foundation of America Concert Artist Competition, considered by many to be the most prestigious guitar competition in the world. He was the first guitarist ever to win the Ljunggrenska Competition of Sweden in 2007, won a "European Guitar Award" for his guitar solo composition in 2009, and has had his work premiered at the World Youth Guitar Festival.

Moller bring his "lucid, spacious playing" (London Evening Standard) to a program including original works, traditional Spanish guitar standards, and a newly discovered work from c.1851 by little-known Dutch composer Karel Arnoldus Craeyvanger (1817 - 1868), in the form of an Opera Fantasy based on a theme from Carl Maria von Weber's Der Freischtz. Craeyvanger was a virtuoso on both guitar and violin who directed of various important music societies, including the Utrecht music festival in 1853.

The First Prize winner at the Guitar Foundation of America's (GFA) International Concert Artist Competition is guaranteed 9 months of touring with performances in 40-60 venues, all starting with a concert at the following year's GFA Convention. In support of the Guitar Foundation of America's enduring commitment to furthering the profile of classical guitar, the GFA Tour allows presenters access to the guitar world's brightest new stars. From major cities to small towns, community colleges to large performance series, the Touring Artist is available to a large array of presenters, aficionados and players, as well as would-be guitarists and music enthusiasts.
