What: A Guitar Hero marathon fund-raising event in which participants will have the opportunity to donate $5 for unlimited play to perform songs from Activision’s “Guiltar Hero III: Legends of Rock” to try and become the “Dallas Guitar Hero” champion. First through fifth place winners will receive an array of prizes from Blockbuster, Activision and Southwest Airlines.

As part of the tournament, Blockbuster is also featuring a CEO/Celebrity Challenge in which local area CEOs and celebrities will compete against each other to raise the most money. Tournament participants can also choose to designate that their $5 donation be counted towards their favorite CEO or celebrity’s bid to win the title of Dallas CEO/Celebrity Guitar Hero.

All donations collected from the event will go to the Dallas non-profit foundation, Education is Freedom, which is part of the educational initiative "Igniting Opportunity for the Children of Dallas Campaign" introduced earlier by Mayor Tom Leppert.

Who: Any Guitar Hero fanatic 7 years and older*, Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert, Blockbuster Chairman and CEO Jim Keyes, CEOs and celebrities.

* Children under the age of 18 must have a signed waiver form, available at the event, to participate.

Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and Jim Keyes, Chairman and CEO, Blockbuster Inc., will kick off the 24-hour marathon at 2:30 p.m.
