This is a weekly event

Aims of the course:
Learn what is a chord and bass accompaniment on the guitar
Establish an individual approach and exercise your own playing style

Contents - possible techniques to choose from:
Guitar chords and chording techniques basic / open chords bar-based chords power-chords and riffs harmony-rich accompaniment
Rhythm structure (different rhythms and styles of music)
Picking and strumming techniques (finger-picking / flat-picking)
Playing scales (major, minor, blues, oriental, etc.)
Playing bass accompaniment patterns
Tonality keys, transposition and modulations
Notation system for guitar players
For the first session you will need to bring:
note-book and a selection of coloured pens
your own guitar - classic or steel-string acoustic is suitable for the beginners, however you are most welcome to bring your 12-string, arch-top, electric, left-hand or bass guitar too

The course runs on Wednesdays from 7.30 to 8.30 pm at Mill Chase Community College in Bordon from 13th January to 24th March. There is a half term break on 17th February.
The cost of the course is £40. Discounts available for those on income based benefits such as housing benefit and pensions credit. 10% discount available for members of the Barbados House Association and members of Woolmer Forest U3A (unless other discounts applied).
