This is an exhibition of some of the greatest artists who ever tackled the Grand Canyon as their subject. Many artists returned again and again to try to capture the essence of the canyon. Thomas Moran (1837-1926), one of America's greatest landscape painters, was one. Gunnar Widforss (1879-1934), who took up residence at the canyon and produced some of its most memorable images, was another. Carl Oscar Borg (1879-1947) returned again and again to record the enchanted landscape. Both Borg and E.I. Couse (1866-1936) sometimes placed Native Americans in their images of the canyon. Louis Akin (1868-1913) is well known for his paints of the Grand Canyon, Gustave Baumann (1881-1971) is celebrated as one of America's greatest printmakers and Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950) brought a Japanese aesthetic to his work at the canyon. These are just some of the artists and images you will experience in this feast for the eyes.
