Graduate Students and Engaged Scholarship (Lunch) Meeting | December 9 | 12-1:30 p.m. | Eshleman Hall, ASUC Senate Chambers, First Floor
Sponsor: Cal Corps Public Service Center
Calling all graduate students interested in community engaged scholarship
We invite you to participate in an introductory meeting for graduate students interested in and/or doing community-based research and teaching -- including community-based participatory research (CBPR), participatory action research (PAR), and service learning. Grad students who collaborate with communities are spread across campus, and their scholarship often falls outside of traditional research and teaching. This meeting will serve to introduce us to one another, and to generate ideas for how the campus can better support engaged scholarship in graduate education.

This event is sponsored by the Cal Corps Public Service Center.

Lunch will be provided.

RSVP to Lara Roman, [email protected]

The Cal Corps Public Service Center has recently begun to support engaged scholarship in courses, through the Berkeley Engaged Scholarship Initiative (BESI) and the American Cultures Engaged Scholarship (ACES) program, which provide financial and logistical support for faculty and students. As Cal Corps programs become more connected to research and teaching, their staff would like to learn more about graduate students working in the realm of engaged scholarship. This informal brainstorming meeting will generate ideas for future workshops, lectures, and/or conferences. Your feedback at this meeting will lead to tangible results for graduate students.
