Each year, over 10 million pets are lost from their owners. Of that number, almost four million pets are euthanized every year because their owners cannot be found in time in some cases in as few as three days. Without proper identification or medical records, shelters have no way of identifying pets and reuniting them with their owners.

Good Mews, a no-kill, cage-free feline shelter located in Marietta, is on a mission to help pet owners protect their beloved animals from being lost. On Sunday, October 12, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Good Mews will host its second annual chipping clinic at the shelter for both cats and dogs. Pet owners who participate will have their animals chipped and enrolled in the new HomeAgain proactive pet recovery system at the low rate of $25 per pet. HomeAgain representatives will be on site to answer questions and volunteer veterinarians and technicians will assist with the chipping. Of course everyone hopes that they will never lose their pet, but it happens, and having your pets chipped truly can mean the difference between life and death. says Good Mews Feline Care Manager, Dana Widmer.

All proceeds from the chipping clinic will benefit the cats and kittens of Good Mews. For more information about the HomeAgain proactive pet recovery system, visit www.homeagain.com. Pet owners wishing to participate in the clinic should e-mail [email protected] to reserve a spot for their pet(s).

Good Mews is located in the Fountains Shopping Center at 736 Johnson Ferry Road, Suite A-3 in East Cobb. For more information about Good Mews, please visit our website at www.goodmews.org.

Good Mews offers an alternative to traditional animal shelters in the Metro Atlanta area by providing a no-kill, cage-free haven for homeless, abused, or abandoned cats until placing them in permanent, loving homes. Good Mews promotes public awareness regarding the value of pets, animal welfare, pet overpopulation, and quality human-animal companionship through education and outreach programs.
