'Gone With the Wind' seeks to explore the influence of both Margaret Mitchell's novel and the Oscar-winning film as they depict complex American social relationships in the era of the Civil War, through documents and objects on loan to the Center from the Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum in Georgia, and derived from the Kent State University Museum in Ohio. Featured items include three replica Scarlett O'Hara gowns, including the green velveteen dress Scarlett made from curtains, her ivory French silk satin wedding dress, and a burgundy French silk velvet ball gown from the David O. Selznick Archive of the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at The University of Texas at Austin. Other items include vintage promotional items, set paintings, signed portraits of the stars, original theater programs, and original scripts.
