The legend of the Golem predates the stories surrounding the Maharal of Prague in the 16th century to the 2nd and 3rd centuries in the Persian Empire. Much can be found today relating about the myth of the golem in films, books, plays etc that is both based on fiction and fact. However, whilst much is available about the legend of the golem, the steps for creating a golem are often glossed over or omitted entirely. This lecture aims to rectify that situation by covering the history of golems from a Jewish perspective, materials and meditative techniques used in the construction of a Golem and an introduction to the Sefer Yesirah / The Book of Formation.

Simson Leigh has been a friend of Treadwells for a couple of years, a student of texts on Kabbalah and early Jewish Mysticism for several years more and an interest in Golems since childhood.
