Since its inception, back in 1999, the GoldCoast Oceanfest has organically grown into one of the most recognisable freesports lifestyle events of its kind. Unique in so many aspects, GoldCoast continues to break the mould with fresh new and innovative ideas to engage the active youth and even older like-minded individuals.

The Oceanfest, now in its 9th consecutive year, strives to showcase the latest freesports talent in a way which families, and most importantly the kids, can get first hand 'low-down' on active lifestyle pursuits in their own environment. Also very much part of spect.

Since the early years music has been part of the festival. Sound seems to be inextricably linked to youth culture - well, let's be honest, the world in general appears to be grooving along to some beat or another - all too often however -not in time, which is unfortunate. The iPod generation brushes their teeth to download. It appears they have ears, and it won't be long till every pursuit will be accompanied by tracks, however laid down.

From Carbon 14's first performance at GoldCoast in 2000 banging out 'Pyromaniac' towards a distant Lundy, the Sundowner Sessions' credibilty has steadily grown, showcasing some quite brilliant local talent over the years. The Oceanfest proudly embraces music as an integral part of the festival and strives to ensure local SouthWest artists & musicians get a chance to vocalise their talents, live, up there on a real stage with real sounds for a real and appreciative audience.
