Gold Star came to fruition when Lucinda Williams asked the frontman of The Sister Ruby Band, Marlon Rabenreither, to be the solo supporting act for one of her acoustic shows.

According to Buzzbands LA's Kevin Bronson "...this is the stuff that outlasts trends, psychedelic Americana that’s rich in texture and songcraft...The EP's gorgeous simplicity belies the push and pull of melancholy and hope in Rabenreither’s songs..."
