Going Native: Botanical Artworks of Canadian Native Plants combines art and science as presented by local members of the Botanical Artists of Canada Barbara Baniuk, Raquel Baranyai, Lynda Bryden, Joan Burdett-Ness, Donna Greenstein, Celia Godkin, Irene Hunchak, Geraldine Jenkison, Luisa Klopchic, Esther Lovrics, Emily Luks, Pamela Meacher, Sophie Barbara Phillips, Nellie Sue Potter, Valerie Rabold and Tasira Strimban-Barishev.

Many floral paintings are impressionistic and show flowers and trees integrated into an equally varied and colourful background. In comparison, the paintings and drawings exhibited in Going Native: Botanical Artworks of Canadian Native Plants highlight the botanical material and meet the following criteria that set them apart:
· Botanical art includes documentation and accurate scientific illustration for plant identification.
· Botanical art can include zoological life that has a relevant relationship with the plant as long as they are scientifically accurate and remain secondary to the plant.
· Botanical art can include a background, as long as all it is part of the natural habitat of the plant and does not overshadow it.
