Italy The 2009 Giro de Italia has been announced and it will be a showcase of Italy and it's beautiful landscape from the top almost to the bottom. It will be the 92nd running of the Giro and will also mark the 100th year since the first Giro de Italia started on May 13, 1909 in Milan with eight stages totaling 2,448 kilometres (1,521 miles).
