With a career spanning four decades and more than 30 albums, the legendary Gilberto Gil introduced the late 1960s tropicália movement alongside Caetano Veloso and went on to become Minister of Culture for Brazil, playing a key role in the constant modernization of Brazilian popular music and culture throughout the world.

A singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he fused bossa nova, samba and salsa with rock and folk music, becoming a world music pioneer. He has made it his mission to draw musical influences from everywhere, resulting in performances that surprise, entertain and inspire.

"...thoughtful, benevolent, playful and musically omnivorous."
