The Mikado is the most popular Gilbert and Sullivan opera, and some argue the most popular opera ever written. It has certainly delighted audiences for more than a century, and spawned a number of imitations. This summer’s Consortium production of The Mikado will continue the tradition of the slightly-twisted versions of previous Gilbert & Sullivan offerings at CHAW over the past nine years. Past productions have included: Iolanthe, The Mikado, Patience, HMS Pinafore, The Gondoliers, a sampler of songs from 8 operettas, and The Pirates of Penzance.
