Ghazanfar Husain is Pierrot’s Troupe’s yet another critically well acclaimed and highly appreciated comic satire.

Succinctly speaking, the play takes a comic, satirical and fresh look at the partition of the country in 1947.

The story unfolds in the form of a 90 year old man as well as an Alzheimer’s patient -- Ghazanfar Hussain -- , recalling the partition and its immediate as well as long-term aftermath juxtaposed with the loss of memory that he suffers from.

In the process, the old man’s non-academic non-descript, and also factually incorrect, memoirs question a range of stereotypes about the partition – its genesis, its causes, its worth, its effects.

The play is performed by SALEEM SHAH, a renowned cinema and TV artist, remembered especially for his thought provoking roles in films like Mammo, English August, Naseem, Sarfarosh, Fanaa etc. and TV Series like Just Mohabbat, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi etc.

As regards the production house Pierrot’s Troupe, it has, during its brief history, earned the reputation of being the “purveyor” of original plays in India. A good number of these well-received and critically acclaimed ones include: Ghalib in New Delhi, Cut…Cut…Cut, K. L. Saigal, Ghalib, Raja Nahar Singh, Tumko Chahoon…, Maulana Azad, Big B, Begum Akhtar, A Private Affair, Ghalib Ke Khat Babur Ki Aulad, Sons of Babur etc.
