(Boston, MA) – GesherCity, the bridge to Boston’s local Jewish scene, invites Jewish young professionals ages 21-35 to attend its biggest party of the fall, “GeshAIRCity Kickoff 2009: Your First Class Ticket to Jewish Boston,” on Wednesday, October 7, at 7 p.m. at The Roxy Nightclub in Boston. This year’s travel-themed event aims to introduce local Jewish young adults to dozens of area Jewish organizations, from political and social justice causes to sports and singles groups. Nearly 500 people are expected to attend!

The Roxy Nightclub will be transformed into airport terminals, where local Jewish organizations will set up staffed tables to provide information on their group and how to get involved. Other “in-flight entertainment” for the night will include light kosher appetizers, cash bar, dancing, and a silent auction, featuring Red Sox tickets, a ferry ride to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket, a one night stay at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, and much more. Party-goers will also have the opportunity to play dress-up in goofy travel garb (think Hawaiian t-shirts and belt bags!) in GesherCity’s free photo booth.

A pre-party for recent Birthright Israel alum and new GesherCity members will be held at 6 p.m. Attendees can chill out on lounge bags by Yogibo, the ultimate beanbag lounger and one of Europe’s most popular furniture accessories. Based in Auburndale, Yogibo is an affiliate of the Israeli company Milega. To learn more about Yogibo, visit www.yogibo.com.

“The Kickoff is one of the best ways for young adults and newcomers to Boston to get connected to the wide variety of opportunities available in the Jewish community,” says Alison Berenson, Director of GesherCity. “GesherCity is unique in that we are trying to promote all these different groups to make sure that anyone who attends finds something most appealing to them!”

GesherCity Boston, founded in 1998, is a comprehensive one-stop-shop for all things Jewish for those in their 20s and 30s in Boston. Through its community-wide events, specialized “clusters,” and leadership opportunities, GesherCity helps connect people to the Jewish community and to each other. GesherCity Boston is a program of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies. For more information about GesherCity, please call 617-457-8666 or visit www.geshercity.org/boston.
