Gerty Farish Returns To Allston, Gets Weird with BILL and the Measuremen

Allston, Massachusetts -- Spazz-Core legends Gerty Farish return to Allston Saturday, July 25th, for a one-night performance at Great Scott. Supporting acts include BILL featuring singer Bill Gage; The Measuremen; and Sunrising.

Described as "Big Black with poop jokes" Gerty Farish reigned with an iron Casio over the Boston noise-pop scene from 1995-1999. Reforming in 2007 they have released a split cassette with Best Fwends and are excited to hurt the eardrums and aesthetic sensibilities of Allston weirdos young and old. Load Records has released a CD exploring the band's early, self-released output.

BILL are a rock band, started in 1987 in New England and fronted by Bill Gage, a charismatic performer who sings surreal, ever-changing lyrics in a wide variety of styles. He also has DS (Down syndrome). The group provides diverse sounds: art-rock, heavy-metal, acoustic folk-ballads, industrial riffs, etc, and Bill Gage continuously refines and re-works his vocal improvisations.

Boston's own The Measuremen continue to delight audiences with their hard-tinged songs about drugs and vampires. The Measuremen gained notice for their appearance on the Winter Is Cold compilation, where the Boston Phoenix noted "promising signs of the variety (and tinnitus) to come." They have played with acts ranging from Jucifer to Dynamite Club to Tristan da Cunha. The Measuremen recently released the Pleasure Mutant EP on Corpse Athlete Records.

Sunrising (ex-Hoag, ex-Earth People Orchestra) will be performing publicly for only the second time, but you'll swear that you've loved them for years. They play progressive surf / metal-jazz fusion pop and enjoy Simpler Times lager, loading in early, and guitar solos.
