2nd Annual Festival of German Films at the Aero Theater in collaboration with FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, the American Cinematheque and the Friends of Hofer Filmtage.

Having won two Oscars® for Best Foreign Language Film and having been nominated four times during the last five years is proof that German films are back with a force.
German Cinema is playing well on international festival circuits and markets again.
We are delighted that GERMAN CURRENTS, the second annual showcase of recent German films is back at the Aero. This year's line-up focuses on films with a Bavarian connection, either being supported by our co presenter FILMFERNSEHFUND BAVARIA or having distribution and world sales in the southern German state, a power house in movie making.

This year’s festival will open with the U.S. PREMIERE! of Oscar® winner and nominee Caroline Link’s new film IM WINTER EIN JAHR (A Year in Winter) and will include favorites of Sundance ( DIE WELLE/ THE WAVE) and Til Schweiger’s KEINOHRHASEN (Rabbits Without Ears) which sold a record number of tickets in Germany.
The sequel of last years WILD CHICKS, DIE WILDEN HUEHNER UND DIE LIEBE (Wild Chicks in Love) based on a novel by Cornelia Funke will delight our young audiences.
And Doris Doerrie will be on hand to present her award-winning film KIRSCHBLUETEN (Cherry Blossoms)

The program also includes: WINTERREISE (Winter Journey) by Hans Steinbichler, BESTE GEGEND (Best Chance) mit Rosalie Thomass, AM ENDE KOMMEN TOURISTEN (And Along Come Tourists)by Robert Thalheim, LISSI UND DER WILDE KAISER (Lissi and the Wild Emperor) by Michael Herbig, FREIGESPROCHEN (Free to Leave) by Peter Payer and SHOPPEN by Ralf Westhoff.

We are especially delighted to present the U.S premiere of the German entry for the 2009 Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film:
THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX by director ULI EDEL, presented in L.A. by producer Martin Moszkowizc.

Guests will include Doris Doerrie, Dennis Gansel, Vivian Naefe, Martin Moszkowicz, Rosalie Thomass and Uschi Reich.
