Geri Allen is an amazing composer and pianist. Since 1982, she has recorded, performed or collaborated an amazing array of artists. She's been to Yoshi's most recently with the tribute to Lee Morgan last winter, and previously as pianist with Charles Lloyd.

Her return to Yoshi's as a leader brings this incredible tribute to Eric Dolphy.

Dolphy was one of several groundbreaking jazz alto players to rise to prominence in the 1960s. His work with John Coltrane and Charles Mingus would be enough to solidify his place in jazz history. When you figure in his solo work, and all the work he did as a sideman, his contributions to the jazz canon is astounding.

For this gig, Geri has assembled a stellar group that features Oliver Lake on alto and bass clarinet, Don Byron on clarinets, Dwayne Dolphin on bass and the amazing Jazz 'tain' Watts on drums.
